Continuous lighting has become a serious option for both photo and video, but it brings a pair of problems that flash never had, and both come down to heat. The light that lets you see exactly what the camera sees is also the light that warms up, drifts, and, in the worst cases, changes color and output as a session runs long.Heat affects output in ways that sneak up on a shoot. A continuous fixture draws full power constantly, and as the diodes or bulbs heat up, the light output can sag until the fixture reaches a stable operating temperature. The first ten or twenty minutes can see a measurable drop, which means the exposure you set at the start of a session may not match the exposure you get an hour in, and that inconsistency shows up as uneven results.Color shifts with temperature as well. Cheaper LEDs drift toward green or magenta as they heat, and their color rendering can degrade, which is a real problem for product and portrait work where skin and brand colors must stay accurate.
Fans help, but they add noise that a video microphone will pick up, and the quietest fixtures are often the ones that manage heat through large passive heatsinks
